French writer Maïa Ponsonnet lived and worked near Weemol, not far from Bulman, Central Arnhem Land between 1998 and 2003 and has returned there periodically since then. In 2005 she completed a PhD in Philosophy and Anthropology at the Université Paris 8-Saint-Denis. She is co-author, with
