BiographyHistory

'A native Swede, Jytte Holmqvist has lived, worked or studied in six countries and speaks several languages fluently. She is particularly passionate about Spanish, Italian and other Romance languages. Holmqvist is a qualified teacher, translator, interpreter and editor and has worked in the fields of translation and education for a number of years. She holds double Masters degrees in Spanish from Lund University in Sweden and Auckland University in New Zealand and has pursued a doctorate degree in Spanish film at Melbourne University (where she takes a special interest in the cinema of Pedro Almodóvar and Ventura Pons). A keen traveller, Holmqvist enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and is also fascinated by the visual and performing arts, art house films, photography, poetry and literature. She finds life in Melbourne very rewarding given the many multicultural aspects of this city, its thriving universities and its vibrant arts scene.'
