'The issue of June, 1840, contained a Notice to Correspondents as follows: "This number closes the third volume of the Temperance Magazine, and it is posssible that another volume may not be begun. The Magazine will, however, be replaced by a Newspaper ... Our subscribers will receive a Supplement, Index, and Title-page in the course of the month; and ... communications after that will be handed over to the Editor of the Temperance News."'
