BiographyHistory

Emma Doolan has been a lecturer in Creative Writing at Southern Cross University, in Northern New South Wales. Her research explores Gothic representations of place, particularly in writing about Australia’s hinterland regions. She is also interested in modernism, feminism, ecocriticism, pop culture and creative writing practice. Her practice-led doctoral thesis was completed at Queensland University of Technology in 2017.

In 2020, her then-unpublished novel At Devil's Elbow was shortlisted for the Text Prize. She has also been shortlisted for the Richell Prize (Emerging Writers' Festival).
