Future D. Fidel is a Congolese-Australian playwright. Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he was orphaned at thirteen and spent eight years in a Tanzanian refugee camp before coming to Australia.
Fidel has been involved in African dance groups in Australia, which led to his involvement in theatre works. His first full-length play, Fighter, was first staged in 2015, and was nominated for two Helpmann Awards in 2016. In 2018, he released his novel based on the play.
Fidel also holds a degree in electrical engineering.
