BiographyHistory

A descendant of the KuKu (Far North Queensland) and Erub/Mer (Torres Strait) people, Destiny Deacon was an artist, photographer, performer, video-maker, writer, broadcaster, and political activist.

She originally studied politics and education, and worked as a teacher and as a staff trainer for activist Charles Perkins, before turning to art in her 30s. She produced provocative, political works that made her a significant figure in contemporary art.
