BiographyHistory

Award winning documentary film maker and photographer, Ian Darling chaired the Caledonia Foundation, a private foundation focusing on the education, training and welfare of young Australians, and was the founder and patron of the Documentary Australia Foundation, a philanthropic initiative supporting the documentary film industry in Australia. Ian Darling also chaired the Sydney Theatre Company and the STC Foundation from 2006-2010 and was a director of the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and patron of the Kangaroo Valley Upper River Hall Arts Festival. He has worked with various socially engaged organisations including the Salvation Army, the Oasis Youth Support Network and the Centre for Social Impact. His photographic work is represented in the permanent collection at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
