BiographyHistory

Brother Howard Le Couteur is an independent historian and a foundation member of a Franciscan religious order (the Little Brothers of Francis) in the eremitical tradition in the Anglican Church. He completed his doctorate in 2006 under the supervision of Professor Jill Roe at Macquarie University. Much of the thesis, on the early history of Anglicanism in Queensland, has now been published in journal articles. His research is in two areas of men's religious experience: freemasonry in early Queensland, and Anglican 'Missions to Men' in Australia in the early twentieth century.
