Bic Walker was born in Vietnam in 1974 and in 1979 escaped with her family from this war-torn counrtry. Their boat was attacked by pirates then rescued by a Canadian Oil tanker. Her family and other refugees were transported to Malaysia and after a six month wait settled in Melbourne, Australia. She is a qualified architect but is now crafting a career as a children's author. Walker's experience as a refugee was the catalyst for her first book A Safe Place to Live. A talented artist, Walker incorporates her paintings into her books. She has resided in Melbourne with her husband and two children. (Source: Google website)
