BiographyHistory

Julia Anderson nursed at North Sydney Hospital, the Women's Hospital in Melbourne and privately, before becoming the first head nurse at the Queen Victoria Hospital, Melbourne, when it opened in 1899. She was one of ten Boer War nurses who sailed on the Euryalus with the Third (Bushmen's) Contingent from Victoria in March 1900. (As We Wave You Goodbye, 7)
