BiographyHistory

Raised in Cesis, Aina Vavere travelled for seven years around Europe as a displaced person, attending a variety of schools in Latvia and Germany. She has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, a Master of Arts (drama) degree from Flinders University 1978, a Diploma of Education and has worked as a science teacher. Her work has been published in Eastern Europe and Latvia. Her plays have been produced by the Latvian Theatre in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, and in the USA and in Europe. Some of her Latvian and English drama and prose works have been awarded prizes both in Latvia and Australia. She has held membership of the Australian Writers' Centre and the Latvian Writers' Association (Riga).
