BiographyHistory

A pioneer of experimental theatre in Australia, Gorman founded the Australian Free Theatre Troupe in Sydney, 1967, was a founding member of Performers and Artists Co-Operative Trust (PACT) and co-founded the theatre magazine Masque. In the late 1970s, as Administrator of the Round House Theatre in Chalk Farm, London, he gave a home to London's burgeoning alternative performing arts scene.

Gorman is also the author of books on communal living, on rock bands, and of a guide book to Sydney Harbour. He has been a teacher and a freelance journalist as well as a writer. Gorman is also a musician; he plays the tenor sax. Gorman is a nephew of the playwright Alan Seymour.
