Michael Helms was editor of the cult film magazine Fatal Visions (1989-2000). Published out of Melbourne, it featured various reviews and interviews but focused chiefly on covering horror, action and exploitation movies. During the mid-1990s he also contributed a column, titled 'Cut,' to the horror magazine Bloodsongs.
