BiographyHistory

Political journalist Rob Chalmers began reporting on Federal politics in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, for the Sydney Daily Mirror in 1951. From 1957 he worked for the weekly newsletter Inside Canberra, taking over the newsletter from its owner Don Whitington on Whitington's death in 1977 and publishing until 2011.

In the last year of his life Rob Chalmers wrote a memoir of his experiences in the Press Gallery in Canberra including his impressions of Australian political leaders.
