Television script-writer.
As a script-writer, Cameron Clarke has concentrated heavily on children's television, especially early childhood programming.
Clarke's earliest work was for the Australian Children's Television Foundation (ACTF) series Lift Off (1992-1996), a complex endeavour that, as executive producer Patricia Edgar notes in her memoir Bloodbath, was designed for children between three and eight years of age, and aimed to 'develop in children the capacity to understand, contribute to and improve the world in which they live' (p.245).
Clarke continued working for the ACTF over the next few years, with scripts for young-adult science drama Sky Trackers (1994); musical animated series Li'l Elvis Jones and the Truckstoppers (1997-1998), a co-production between the ACTF and animator Peter Viska's Viskatoons; and live-action super-hero series Legacy of the Silver Shadow (2002).
He has also contributed to other children's television programs, including Southern Star Entertainment's Pig's Breakfast (1999-2000) and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Book Bug (2003), an anthology series that adapted children's books by such authors as Gillian Rubinstein, Margaret Clark, and Libby Gleeson.
Along with such authors as Lisa Hoppe, Chris Phillips, Tamra Palmer, Ray Boseley, and Rachel Spratt, Clarke was also a contributor to children's television series Hi-5.
