BiographyHistory

Evelyn Conlon is a highly regarded Irish novelist and short story writer. When she was nineteen, Conlon migrated to Australia and spent three years here, living in Sydney and Mount Isa, but returned to Ireland in 1975. Her first work of fiction My Head Is Opening was published in 1987. During her time in Australia Conlon published her first book, a book of poems Thoughts among the Bindies [1974?] which is now exceedingly rare.

Conlon visited Australia in 2011 as a guest of the Byron Bay Writers' Festival. Australian colonial history was also the subject of her 2013 novel Not the Same Sky.
