Kaylah Tyson (aka Kaylah Truth) is certainly no stranger to the stage. Over the years she has performed as part of Poetic Murriz and, more recently, the Impossible Odds crew. Her time as an artist has also seen her support artists including Kid Ink, Naughty By Nature, The Herd, The Last Kinection, Sky'High – and she was guest emcee in the Brisbane leg of KRS-ONE's first ever Australian tour.
Her growth as an artist was acknowledged in early 2013 when she was nominated for four awards as the annual National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander BUMP Hip-Hop Awards including Best Female Artist and Best New Talent.
More than a hip-hop artist, Kaylah Truth completed a Diploma in Performing Arts at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts (ACPA). During her time there she was in such theatre productions as Reflections, Q150 & Long Before, Something Of a Midsummer Night’s Dream-Time and X-Stacy under the direction of Leah Purcell.
A Meerooni woman of the Gurang nation, Kaylah truth has become a respected community leader touring to remote, regional and inner city communities as a dancer, emcee, motivational speaker and workshop facilitator.
That important work has seen her curate the Logan State Of Mind visual and performing arts exhibition as part of the national #NMLL Campaign (No More Lives Lost) campaign she founded.
