Correspondence by 'Cornstalk', addressed from the Singleton area in New South Wales, is published in the Australasian Chronicle and its later title the Morning Chronicle from about 1841 to 1844.

'Cornstalk' may be associated with John Wytton Steele. A 'Cornstalk' is mentioned in correspondences by Steele's pseudonyms' 'John Tobias', published in the Australasian Chronicle (10 July 1841) and 'The Hermit in New South Wales', published in the Morning Chronicle (20 August 1844).
