Kim Williams 'has had a long involvement in the arts and entertainment industry in Australia and internationally'. He 'has held various executive positions including Chief Executive at each of Fox Studios Australia, the Australian Film Commission, Southern Star Entertainment and Musica Viva Australia'. He has also been chair of the Sydney Opera House Trust and a senior executive at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
In 1988, Williams founded the Australian Film Finance Corporation and was its Foundation Chairman. He was appointed as a Member in the Order of Australia in June 2006 and, in 2012, was awarded the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association's third annual ASTRA Pioneer Award.
