BiographyHistory

An English-born television producer and director, Alan Coleman was awarded the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2008 Aussie Soap Awards for his outstanding contribution to the soap opera industry.

Before arriving in Australia in 1974, he had been head of children's programming at ATV (Associated Television) in the UK. He worked primarily on soap operas and primarily with Reg Grundy, although he did once briefly part company with Grundy's organisation in order to set up his own company (which broadcast sporting events).

Coleman was the creator of The Young Doctors, and also worked on The Restless Years, Punishment, Neighbours, and Shortland Street.
