BiographyHistory

The Danish Gyldendal publishing group comprises four imprints: Forum, Gyldendal, Høst & Søn, Rosinante and Samleren. The imprints in the group publish in the fields of literary fiction, crime fiction, classics, narrative non-fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, both original Danish works and translations.

Gyldendal was founded in 1770 as Gyldendalske Boghandel, Nordisk Forlag.

Gyldendal also has a book club, Gyldendals Boklubber.

In 1925, a company called Gyldendal Norsk Forlag was founded, after buying the rights to Norwegian authors from Gyldendal.
