'Auckland-born and raised Brian Falkner has won a number of awards for his children's and young adult fiction. His novel Brainjack won the New Zealand Post Book Awards, Children's Choice Award, Young Adult Fiction category and the Sir Julius Vogel Award, Best Young Adult Novel. Even at school he knew that he wanted to be a writer. It took him thirty years to realise that dream with his first junior novel published in 2003. He studied computers at university but dropped out to pursue his love of writing. He trained as a journalist, and then worked as a reporter and an advertising copywriter, a radio announcer and an Internet developer before finally becoming an author. Falkner has lived on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.'
