Thom van Dooren has lectured in environmental studies in the School of History and Philosophy at the University of New South Wales, Australia. His research is situated in the broad interdisciplinary field of the environmental humanities. He completed his B.A. (honours) and PhD at the Australian National University. He has previously held postdoctoral positions at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Hull (UK), and has been a visiting research associate at the University of California at Santa Cruz (USA).
He is co-editor of the open-access journal Environmental Humanities.
