BiographyHistory

Sibendu Chakraborty is an academic from Kolkata. In 2012 he received the Haskell Grant his paper 'De-essentialising Indigeneity: Locating Hybridity at Variously Indigenous Performative Texts' at the American Comparative Literature Association Annual Conference. He has presented many papers on Aboriginal theatre in Conferences organised by the Indian Association for the Study of Australia in different parts of India.

He was awarded the Australia India Council Fellowship Award (junior) in 2012-13 and visited Monash University, University of New South Wales, University of Wollongong, The University of Queensland, Australian National University and University of Western Australia for the purpose of research and experience. He was granted his PhD in 2013 for his thesis 'Australian Aboriginal Theatre: Discourse of Protest and Nationalism against a Multicultural Backdrop in Jack Davis’ Plays'.
