Robin Wagner has been Library Director at Gettysburg College, an undergraduate institution located in Pennsylvania. She has also served as a reference librarian, social sciences bibliographer and archivist at a number of libraries, including the University of Virginia and Dartmouth College. She earned a BA in History from Dickinson College, a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Kentucky and a Master's degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Anthropology from Dartmouth College. She is a long-time member of the American Library Association and has served as President of its College Library Division.
During 2008 Wagner was granted a research leave and spent time in Australian libraries, archives and public record offices examining the correspondence and surveys associated with the Munn-Pitt report. Key recommendations of the Munn-Pitt report on Australian and New Zealand libraries (1934) were to establish tax-supported municipal 'free libraries' and to strengthen and extend librarianship by professionalising the training and registration of librarians.
