Pat Grant received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with honours from the University of Technology in Sydney, New South Wales. His thesis was a comic book about surf localism and its connection to the riot at Cronulla, New South Wales, in December 2005. He later completed a PhD with a focus on cartooning at Macquarie University, and has contributed two two funded research projects: Comic Book Artists at Work (Australia Council) and Contemporary Australian Comics 1980-2020: A New History (ARC).
Pat Grant published comic books and zines and his work appeared in publications including Surfing Life, Tracks, Beat, 3D World, Meanjin, Going Down Swinging, and Lifted Brow. In 2011 he was living in Melbourne, Victoria.
