BiographyHistory

Nancy Daiyi is a senior member of the MakMak people from the Wagait floodplains area of the Northern Territory. Daiyi has contributed some of her cultural knowledge and life experiences to the book Country of the Heart : An Indigenous Australian Homeland. During the 1960's, Nancy Daiyi fled Darwin to prevent authorities from taking custody of her daughter Linda Ford by making her way back to Wagait. Nancy Daiyi is also the mother of Kathy Deveraux and Margaret Daiyi (qq.v.).
