Ted George grew up in the Perth foothills. While working in the North-West as a deckhand he was conscripted into the army. Following his service he travelled for eighteen years in Australia, Europe and the USA working as a bus driver, professional fisherman, labourer, skipper of a ferry and refrigeration mechanic. In 1988 he settled back in Perth and ran his own commercial refrigeration business. He began writing after he retired.
