BiographyHistory

Darius Hunt arrived in Sydney via North America. He seems to have settled at first in Kiama before moving to Parramatta. Hunt, initially with W. Hornblower, published the Parramatta Chronicle and County of Cumberland Advertiser in 1859. In 1861, he moved to Toowoomba where he established the Toowoomba Chronicle on 4 July of that year. In June 1874, William Henry Groom joined Hunt in the newspaper's proprietorship and on 4 February 1876, Groom became sole proprietor.

Hunt went on to manage various land holdings in the Toowoomba area.
