BiographyHistory

Constanzia Croft was born in England and came to Australia 'as a young migrant just prior to the Second World War'. She married in 1940 and had four children. Croft lived in Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne and Darwin during her time in Australia. Sometime after the breakdown of her marriage, her children were removed from her care and placed in foster homes.

In 1956, Croft stowed away on the S. S. Australia and returned to England.

While living in Australia, Croft became friends with Mary Gilmore and William Hart-Smith (qq.v.) and her work was published in the Bulletin in the early 1940s.
