BiographyHistory

Karlis Nicis was an opera singer in Latvia and following a conflict with the management of the Latvian National Opera, Nicis decided to migrate to Australia where he continued a singing career. He was an active member of the Latvian community in Sydney for many years and published articles in Latvian newspapers both in Australia and in Latvia in the 1920s and 1930s [Source: Early Latvian Settlers in Australia]
