BiographyHistory

Phil Motherwell started writing for the theatre in Melbourne in 1969 after forming an association with the La Mama Theatre and the Pram Factory Group. Some of Motherwell's unpublished plays have been produced by the Troupe Theatre, Unley, South Australia; the Nimrod Theatre, Sydney (now the Belvoir Street Theatre) and overseas theatres. He has acted in and directed several of his own plays. As an actor he has also appeared in such films as Mad Dog, Mad Max and Monkey Grip.
