BiographyHistory

Ian Craven teaches Film and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. His research interests include Australian cinema, the history of criticism, cinema technology, and British amateur cinema. His edited publications include Australian Popular Culture (Cambridge University Press, 1994) and Australian Cinema in The 1990s (Frank Cass Ltd, 2001). He has also published articles dealing with postcolonial cinemas and television, cinema and urban form, and the theory and practice of area studies. Until 2002, he was as editor of Australian Studies, the journal of the British Australian Studies Association. He also previously held the post of European Vice-President of the International Australian Studies Association.
