Stephen Penberthy grew up in the Riverina region of New South Wales. His career has been diverse encompassing international and domestic hotel management, bank management and hospital/healthcare public relations management. He spent eleven years as the Director of Public Affairs for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (Queensland section). Prior to his retirement in early 2008, Penberthy spent a term with The Australian Lung Foundation as Executive Director, Community Relations.
