BiographyHistory

When Michael O'Connor was living in Darwin, his family's home was destroyed in the air raids of February 1942. He worked later as a district officer in Papua New Guinea and then as an intelligence officer in the Royal Australian Navy. O'Connor has also written extensively about national defence issues, including To Live in Peace : Australia's Defence Policy (1985). He has served as executive director of the Australia Defence Association.
