Keith Gow has been an actor, screenwriter, editor, director, producer, and special-effects supervisor.
In 1959, he went to work for the Commonwealth Film Unit and later Film Australia.
He was an avid member of left film societies and was influenced by the writings of the Soviet school film-makers such as Eisenstein and Vertov.
