BiographyHistory

Dương Văn Chung graduated from the Saigon National College of Commerce (the course 1957-1960) and worked as accountant for the Shell Company in Saigon, South Vietnam for a year in 1960, and then worked at the Tax Department in the Ministry of Finance for the period of 1961-1965. In 1965, he was conscripted into the Army of the Republic of Vietnam and deployed to work in Can Tho. In 1969, he became a detached officer at the Tax Department and remained there until April 1975. In May 1975, as a result of his service, the new regime put him in an education camp for two years, and one year house detention afterwards. As a Vietnamese-Australian, his writing refers to traditions and customs of Vietnamese people in the Mekong Delta.
