Dr Martina Horáková obtained her Ph.D. in the Comparative Literature program at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic, for a dissertation titled Claiming Voice and Writing Life: A Comparative Analysis of Indigenous Women's Life Writing in North America and Australia.
She has been a full-time lecturer in the Department of English and American Studies, Masaryk University, where she has enthusiastically promoted twentieth-century Australian literature in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Her research interests include white settler literature of Canada and Australia, Indigenous literatures, women's life writing, and fictocriticism.
