BiographyHistory

Yindolan was born at Tipperary near York in Western Australia and was the daughter of a Ballardong woman and a settler. She was removed into the custody of a woman named Eliza Brown, renamed Annie and trained in domestic service. Yindolan began living with a shepherd named Thomas Shehan who was a convict transported from England at the age of twelve. Yindolan's family attempted to contact her unsuccessfully after she had been raised to fear Aboriginal people.
