M. Newton is described in the journal Flame as being a married woman with three sons. She 'commenced writing about three years ago [circa 1933]. Short stories and occasional articles [have appeared in] various weeklies and monthlies'. Newton is said to be glad of publication in Flame as it provides the opportunity 'to write something more than pretty-pretty stories'.
