FOX8 Is an Australian cable and satellite channel available through Foxtel, Austar and Optus Television's subscription platforms. The channel initially called Fox before adding the "8" to the title (being situated on the eighth Foxtel analogue channel). As Foxtel's most popular subscription channel, it is also one of the very few channels to have been continuously broadcast in Australia since Foxtel's foundation in 1995.
FOX8 and Foxtel established a deal with Network Ten to receive their shows bought from the Fox Broadcasting Company (USA) television, with some of the more popular being The Simpsons, Futurama and The Simple Life. The channel underwent a rebranding phase in 2006, including matching its logo with the American Fox channel. In October that same year the channel also relaunched its website, with the new version allowing visiters the ability to watch extracts from selected shows. A high definition version of the channel, FOX8HD, was launched on the Foxtel and Austar platforms on 15 November 2009.
In addition to buying the rights to screen already made programs FOX8 has been involved in producing a number of local shows, including Love My Way, first Australian drama series to be made specifically for pay television.
