Musician, actor, comedian, lyricist and writer. Minchin has pubished picture books, collaborated on film and television, and composed musical theatre, including the wildly successful stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda, which was later adapted as a film.
Tim Minchin was born in the UK and grew up in Perth, Western Australia. Minchin attended Christ Church Grammar, studied English and theatre at the University of Western Australia and contemporary music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
After moving from Perth to Melbourne in 2002, Minchin began performing in solo comedy shows. His performance at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2005 won the inaugural Festival Directors' Award and launched his international career. His live show 'Tim Minchin Versus the Sydney Symphony' was awarded Best New Australian Work in the 2011 Helpmann Awards.
In 2013, Tim Minchin played the role of Judas Iscariot in Andrew Lloyd Webber's updated rock opera 'Jesus Christ Superstar'.
In 2015, Tim Minchin wrote the music and lyrics for Dennis Kelly's theatre adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda.
