1 The Endarkenment : A Pedal Powered Opera Fregmonto Stokes , Angus Leslie (composer), Julius Millar (composer), 2010 single work musical theatre opera

'Set in the wake of an economic collapse, where the coal power plants are defunct and the electricity grid lies lifeless, 'The Endarkenment' depicts the struggle of several deluded survivors to resurrect the electric past.

Advertising jingles have become religious hymns, and the banality of our contemporary technology-drenched lifestyles is remembered with idyllic reverence. Requiems to the past are sung in a linguistic fusion of Beowulf era old English, corporate jargon and internet chat, accompanied by a fragmented score of Bollywood beats, gypsy jazz and 16th century Christian choral music.

In the dark, only our desperate and furious pedaling will conjure the light.' (Source: Melbourne Fringe Festival 2010 website, www.melbournefringe.com.au (sighted 06/10/2010)
