BiographyHistory

Archibald Nugent Robertson was called to the bar in London on 26 January 1881. He probably arrived in Australia in late January 1885 – he is listed as a passenger on board the Superb when it departed Hobson's Bay (Melbourne) on 24 January 1885. Robertson was admitted to the bar of New South Wales the following year on 9 February 1886.

According to a short obituary in the Sydney Morning Herald, Robertson had 'for 31 years been legal visitor at the mental hospitals in the vicinity of Sydney, and at the time of his death was chairman of the board of visitors. The late Mr. Robertson did a good deal of journalistic work, and wrote several novels'. (Mr. A. N. Robertson. The Sydney Morning Herald 7 October 1922: 14.)
