BiographyHistory

An Edinburgh man by birth and education, Edward Deas Thomson was apointed clerk of the council in New South Wales in May 1828. He took up his appointment in January 1829. He later became Colonial Secretary and Registrar of Records, 2 January 1837 to 6 June 1856.
