Brendon Pascoe was born in 1948 in Brisbane where he schooled to year 12. He then spent his working life as a labourer in farming, catering, building and civil engineering. Pascoe's engagement with painting, writing, acting and language began early in life and he has attended thereto with varying degrees of intensity ever since. From 1972 to 1989, he spent twelve years in the U.K, a year in France, and four years in Greece, his travels being conducted in a 35ft (10.7m) ketch. After Pascoe's return to Australia in 1989, he continued with labouring until 1997 when he elected to study art for a B.A degree at the University of New England, majoring in Theatre Studies. He has since studied Fine Arts at Armidale TAFE, with the intention to make painting his chief occupation.
