John McKenzie was the husband of
Pearl McKenzie (q.v.). He had five children with Pearl, shortly, after their first born, they moved to Martin's Well Station, South Australia, where John became head stockman. John had no formal education, but taught himself how to read and write. John had a strong sense of the importance of passing down knowledge and culture from generation to generation.
