BiographyHistory

The Recorded Picture Company is an independent British film production company founded in 1974 by Academy Award-winning producer Jeremy Thomas. A number of its films have achieved commercial success and critical acclaim, with the best-known being The Last Emperor (1987), winner of nine Academy Awards including 'Best Picture'. Other notable productions include Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (1983), Naked Lunch (1991), Little Buddha (1993), Crash (1996), Stealing Beauty (1996), Sexy Beast (2000), The Dreamers (2003), Tideland (2005), Don't Come Knocking (2005), Fast Food Nation (2006), Franklyn (2008) and Creation (q.v., 2010).
