Charles MacLaurin, son of Sir Normand MacLaurin, former Chancellor of Sydney University, was a well-known surgeon and lecturer in Clinical Surgery. MacLaurin served in the Australian armed forces in World War I and wrote two popular books of medical essays, Post-Mortem : Essays Historical and Medical (1923) and Mere Mortals : Medico-Historical Essays (1925).
