BiographyHistory

Buttercup was born on the cattle station at Charlotte Downs in the Kimberley region of Western Australia and spent much of her early life there. Later in her life she became a respected cultural leader and owned several of the Kija women's corroborees at Warmun community. Her husband, Makany (q.v.), worked in partnership with her on cultural matters. Source: From Digging Sticks to Writing Sticks: The Story of Kija Women (2001)
